Open or enclosed, which do I need?
Open transport is safe and cost-effective for most cars, and it's how dealerships receive new inventory. Choose enclosed for exotics, classics, low-clearance cars, fresh paint or anything you'd rather keep out of weather and road debris.
How long does shipping take?
Short regional moves can deliver in a few days; coast to coast usually runs about one to two weeks. Your quote includes a pickup window and a transit estimate for your specific route.
How is my price calculated?
Distance, the route, vehicle size, open or enclosed, whether it runs, and the time of year. Popular routes cost less per mile; rural pickups and peak snowbird season cost more. Your quote is for your exact lane and dates.
Is my car insured in transit?
Yes, by the carrier. Redline is a licensed and bonded broker, so your car rides on the carrier's cargo insurance, typically $250,000 to $10 million per load depending on the truck. We verify every carrier's authority, safety record and active insurance before dispatching, and the bill of lading records your car's condition at pickup and delivery.
Do I need to be there?
Someone you trust needs to be present at pickup and delivery to hand over keys and sign the inspection report. It doesn't have to be you.
How should I prepare my car?
Wash it so the inspection is accurate, take your own photos, leave about a quarter tank of fuel, remove toll tags and loose items, and tell your dispatcher about any leaks, low clearance or special starting steps.
Can I leave things in the car?
Ask your dispatcher first. Most carriers don't allow personal items because cargo insurance covers the vehicle, not what's inside it.
Can you move a car that doesn't run?
Yes. Choose "Inoperable" on the quote form so we assign a carrier with a winch. Pricing is slightly higher because fewer trucks are equipped for it.
Do you work with dealers and auctions?
Yes. Dealer trades, auction pickups and multi-car loads, including gate passes and release paperwork.
